My Purpose
My purpose as a Speech-Language Pathologist is to promote quality of life and well-being to my patients, patients’ families, graduate-student clinicians, clinical fellows, and coworkers through purposeful and pointed interventions, inexhaustible passion, and boundless empathy. I will continually bolster my knowledge in order to ensure implementation of the best, most effective, and evidenced-based practice. I will also use this knowledge to educate those around me in order to promote knowledge and independence as well as to spread my passion and motivation for changing lives. I will delve deep with my patients to discover what they value and what drives them in order to structure my approach in a way that establishes their goals as the top priority. I will surround myself with people who recurrently help me re-assess my trajectory and ensure that I do not lose sight of my “why” – to change people’s lives by promoting quality of life through sustained independence.
